About Teagan

As a composer, Teagan Serink is unafraid to recolor the world with unabashed, childlike wonder. Her music journey began in grade school choir and orchestra, where she discovered her love of composing and arranging by transcribing movie soundtracks for her classmates. Her current compositional work explores the topics of mental health, neurodiversity, and humanity’s connection to nature.  As a believer in the unifying power of fandom, Teagan arranges music to create avenues for people to build communities by sharing their favorite stories.

Though she has since learned to write for a plethora of instruments, Teagan remains partial to her native idioms of string orchestra and choir. She has published original works in collaboration with AJ Bryson Music, and has released several arrangements as part of Hal Leonard’s ArrangeMe program. PDFs of these works can be found on AJBrysonMusic.com, Sheet Music Plus, and her personal website.

As the newly-appointed Co-Music Director of the University of North Texas’s student-run a cappella choir, Mean Dynamics, Teagan leverages her years of singing experience and music theory training to tackle challenging repertoire with her colleagues. She is skilled in identifying knowledge gaps and explaining musical concepts to ensembles with diverse musical backgrounds and skill levels.

Recently, Teagan was commissioned by the Centennial Singers to write a song commemorating the town of Fort MacLeod’s 150th anniversary. This piece was performed as part of the town's anniversary festivities in July 2024.

Teagan is currently pursuing a BA in music at the University of North Texas, where she is a member of the Honors College and a National Merit scholar. She has been on the UNT President’s List three semesters in a row. Teagan is also pursuing a double major in technical communication, and minors in commercial music and Spanish. Outside of school, you may find her observing the local herpetofauna or photographing the sprouts that come up between the cobblestones.
